This old wooden handle coal shovel has definitely seen some use in it's day. The bottom has a couple of bends, and there has been some narrow edge broken off at sometime. I bought the shovel and cleaned it up and sprayed with rustoleum. I then put an oil painting of two large whitetail bucks breaking cover. This shovel has a couple of markings on the metal that goes up the handle. There is: ?ALDWIN, (I believe a B, but wouldn't swear to it.) A $, Brand a number 16 and a number 2. Also, at some point and time in it's history, someone used a (punch?) and put the letter "J" in the wooden handle right below the hand-hole. This shovel would look great in a log home, or in that rustic den, next to a fireplace, the possibilities are endless.
