$ 625.00          BACK

Carved from a 2-1/2" slab of black walnut, one of a kind tree. This is my second carving of this nature. This is the first buck that I've carved. This buck has a massive 12pt. Rack he stands 4-1/2" from his knees to the top point. He stands in the center of oak leaves. The buck is finished front & back. The carving is signed, dated with the year, 2008. The burl from where there was a split off of limbs is just loaded with character. I have added a bronze colored mirror in the background, and mini lights. In the photos below, many were taken without the mirror, due to the reflection. You will see the reflection of the woods in mirror. You can also see that it will stand on it's own, but definitely needs attached to a wall. This tree is 14-1/2" wide at the bottom, then narrows to about 13-1/4" in the middle and 22-1/2" wide at the top at the widest point. The carving begins at 59" from the bottom of the tree. The slab itself is 86" tall. The carving, was coated with 3 coats of tong oil, and then of a satin varnish. I carved a groove down the center of the back to run the cord for the lights, which have a switch on the right side. I also have a groove to finish the cord running both directions so it could be plugged in from either side. Right now there is a 1/2" that is not cut out, so that there is not a hole. You can cut it out with a utility knife, chisel, or if the buyer lets me know which side they want the plug to be on, I will be glad to finish it. I also have a base that it can be set on if you would not like it directly on the floor. The base is also black walnut and cut on 30-degree angles. It is 4-3/4" wide and 17-3/4" long and 2'1/2" thick at the widest part, (bottom). There are also 2 carved mushrooms. The double mushroom is approx. 4-1/4" tall and the smaller is 3-1/2. There are pin oak leaves with an acorn that is a wood spirit that can be used to cover the screw at the top. Approx. 6" x 4-1/2", the little acorn spirit is 1-1/2". I have drilled tiny holes in these little carvings, so that you can tack them on. Just set the tree on the base countersink 2 screws close to the bottom of the tree and one at the top, this all you need in a stud, or if you have log or wood walls then it could be attached anywhere.

The bad news, this is heavy...the packaged weight will be 92 lbs,
On last thing, I didn't notice it until I was about halfway done with the carving. When I went to flip it over, there was something sharp. Upon inspection, it must be a shell, as this is the very center of the tree, as you can see in one of the photos of the bottom. Since it's coming out, it's not a nail or screw, see photo below. I have left it alone it sticks out less then 3/8". I can grind it down so it's not sharp if the buyer wants, but since it's part of this tree's history, I have not done anything with it yet.

In this photo the mirror is not in.

Mirror in, reflecting the woods.

This is the sharp object.

Of course it was daytime out...
